PO DELTA REGIONAL
PARK, THE DISTINGUISHING ELEMENT!
Knowing one’s origins is essential to understanding one’s roots. This is also true for plants and our alfalfa. Being familiar with the region and with the origins of our animals’ and our own nourishment is fundamental to ensuring universal well-being. The region is the distinguishing element of any crop and of our alfalfa as well. The Po Delta Regional Park is characterised by alluvial soil that is rich in sediments, with a unique microclimate created by the proximity of the Po River and the sea.
Do you still believe that all alfalfa is the same?
THE POLESINE
A region of water, of dreamy landscapes and infinite environments, an extraordinary natural stage, where water moves majestically among floodplains and sandy islands, and the Po, with its delta, flows placidly to the sea through a labyrinth of tributaries and reed beds, a paradise for the area’s wide variety of animal life. But the province of Rovigo embraces a surprising natural habitat as well as a wealth of culture, which visitors can experience not only in the cities, small towns, and museums, in the architecture of villas, palaces, and churches, but also in the local traditions, food and wine, and warmth of its people.
FROM THE SEED TO PRODUCTION
METHOD
PRODUCTION
We have always encouraged biodiversity by using select and certified seeds from local ecotypes of the Pomposa and Delta varieties. After the seedbed has been prepared by carefully levelling the terrain, we proceed with the sowing. We use planting machines with disc ploughs in order to evenly space the seeds in the terrain at the proper depth.
The cutting takes place at the start of the vegetative stage, at 25/30 days, then the alfalfa is left in the field for a limited timeframe in order to keep the nutritional loss to minimum.
The harvest, a very delicate phase, takes place using the latest generation of raking system. The product is then delicately loaded and deposited onto conveyor belts and transported and unloaded centrally without ruining it and with only a minimal loss of its precious nutritional properties. Thanks to modern harvesting systems, the forage’s windrow is free of earth and rocks, thus achieving unparalleled product quality.
The dehydration process, combined with perfect preservation, makes it possible for the plant’s nutritional properties to remain intact. The operating temperature is constantly monitored and calibrated in accordance with the moisture content of the incoming product. The outgoing product is cooled through a modern air conditioning system. The moisture content, a key factor in processing and preservation, is constantly monitored via detection systems throughout every stage of processing. The product is preserved and stored in appropriate warehouses. The nutritional value and wholesomeness of the product is guaranteed through regular analytical checks.
DIGITAL AGRICULTURE: TECHNOLOGY AT THE SERVICE OF SUSTAINABILITY
Through the use of NIR sensors installed in the processing systems, we can monitor the nutritional and organoleptic characteristics and the moisture content of our products, guaranteeing total traceability and uniformity of the production batches.
The system makes it possible to monitor both the incoming material and all the production lines of pellets and bales so as to control their protein, fibre, and moisture content as well as their digestibility.

100% NATURAL, HIGH-GRADEDEHYDRATED
ALFALFA
Alfalfa is the only extensively farmed plant used for animal feed and is identified as one of the 100 most curative plants for its therapeutic properties. In fact, it is rich in nutrients like beta-carotene, vitamins, protein and Omega 3, which release aromatic compounds, natural colour, and nutritional and organoleptic properties into products like milk, eggs, and meat, making them taste “as good as they used to”.
Our certifications are an added value which allows us to tangibly demonstrate the care and attention that we dedicate to our production of alfalfa, as well as the safety and traceability of our production and processing activities.
